About this edition

A 462-page edition based on Montague Summers's 1928 English translation of the Malleus Maleficarum. Set in Adobe Jenson Pro, a Renaissance-inspired typeface whose forms suit the work's historical character.

Printed on 90 gsm wood-free stock, crisp and opaque with a subtle tactile surface.

Bound in black cloth over 3 mm boards, with a rounded spine. Foil-stamped in gold on the front board, and on the spine with a Dominican cross in reference to Heinrich Kramer's order.

The Codex is housed in a red cloth slipcase with a silkscreened illustration adapted from a later English witchcraft woodcut.

This edition also includes the papal bull Summis desiderantes affectibus (1484) and the Letter of Approbation from the University of Cologne (1487), the prefatory documents that helped establish the Malleus as an authorized and influential text.
