Return and Refund Policy

This policy applies to all customers.

Order Cancellations (Before Dispatch)

You may cancel your order free of charge at any time before it has been dispatched. Cancelled orders are refunded in full to the original payment method. To cancel, use the self-service option in your customer account or contact us at info@theobsidiancodex.com as soon as possible. Once an order has been dispatched, the return process below applies instead.

14-Day Right of Return

You may return your purchase within 14 days. The return period expires 14 days from the day you, or a third party indicated by you (other than the carrier), take physical possession of the goods.

To exercise this right, you must inform us of your decision with an unequivocal statement before the period expires. You can use the withdrawal option on our website, the self-service option in your customer account, or email info@theobsidiancodex.com. A model withdrawal form is available on our Right of Withdrawal page; using it is optional. We will confirm receipt of your notice by email without undue delay.

Binder's Editions and Other Made-to-Order Items

Our Binder's Editions are hand-bound and made to order. Binding begins after purchase. The right of return therefore does not apply to Binder's Editions, unless we have clearly stated otherwise in writing.

The same applies to any other item produced to your individual specification or personalised at your request. Where an item is exempt from the right of return, this is stated on the product page before purchase. Exempt items remain fully covered in the case of defective, damaged, or incorrect deliveries.

Condition of Returned Items

You may inspect the goods to the extent necessary to establish their nature, characteristics, and functioning, as you would in a bookshop. You are liable for any reduction in value caused by handling beyond this.

Our books are collectible editions and their value depends heavily on condition. Reading the book, creasing the spine or pages, marks, stains, or damage to the slipcase or enclosure will reduce your refund accordingly. Deductions are assessed when we inspect the returned item, and are documented and itemised.

Each book is shipped in a custom presentation box made for its series. The box is an integral part of the edition, not disposable packaging. Please return the book in this box, undamaged. A missing or damaged presentation box reduces the value of the edition, and the refund will be reduced accordingly.

Pack the item securely for the return journey. You are responsible for damage in return transit caused by inadequate packaging.

Return Shipping

Send the goods back without undue delay and no later than 14 days from the day you notify us of your return. You bear the direct cost of returning the goods. We strongly recommend a tracked and insured service appropriate to the value of the item.

The return address will be provided in the return instructions. As standard, returns are sent to our office in Norway. In some cases we may direct your return to one of our fulfillment centers in the US or Europe instead.

For returns sent from outside Norway, mark the customs declaration as "Returned goods".

If a delivery is refused or not collected and the parcel is returned to us, we treat this as a return under this policy. Carrier fees, customs charges, and return transport costs incurred are deducted from the refund.

Refunds

If you return your purchase in accordance with this policy, we will refund all payments received from you, including the cost of standard delivery, without undue delay and no later than 14 days from the day we are informed of your return. If you chose a delivery method more expensive than our least expensive standard option, the difference is not refundable.

We may withhold the refund until we have received the goods back or you have supplied evidence of having sent them, whichever is earlier. Refunds are issued to the original payment method. Any deduction for reduced value (see above) will be itemised.

Defective, Damaged, or Incorrect Items

If your item arrives defective, damaged, or is not what you ordered, contact us at info@theobsidiancodex.com with a description and photographs. In these cases we cover all return shipping costs and will offer, at your choice, a replacement (where available) or a full refund including all shipping fees. This applies to all items, including Binder's Editions and other made-to-order items.
