First published in 1486, Malleus Maleficarum became one of the most influential texts on witchcraft in early modern Europe, shaping judicial practice for centuries and contributing to the intellectual climate that later culminated in the Salem trials.

Obsidian Codex Press is preparing two editions.

The Codex Edition (English) presents Montague Summers’ 1928 translation, newly composed in Jenson Pro with wide margins and measured pacing for clarity and readability. Printed on archival, uncoated paper and bound in black cloth with gold foil stamping, the volume is housed in a red cloth slipcase and Smyth-sewn for durability.

The Artefact Edition (Latin) is a numbered collector’s edition reconstructing the Latin text from multiple sixteenth-century sources. Marginalia has been restored to its historical position, and the typographic structure reflects early continental book design, presenting the work as it would once have appeared in scholarly use.
