A carefully produced edition of the imagined 1596 English translation attributed to Dr. John Dee, court astrologer to Elizabeth I.
Written in Early Modern English, this rendering of the legendary Kitab Al-Azif presents a vision of forbidden knowledge shaped in the cadence and tone of the late sixteenth century. The text is accompanied by restrained woodcut-style illustrations inspired by Renaissance design and Lovecraftian cosmology. The interior has been composed to evoke a historical volume while maintaining clarity and readability.
The binding is executed in black cloth over substantial 3 mm boards, with gold-foil stamping on the front, spine, and back boards. The front board bears an Elder Sign in gold foil, while the spine features John Dee’s Monas Hieroglyphica. The volume is printed on white, acid-free, archival paper and finished with black headbands and vintage-style printed endpapers.
Smyth-sewn for durability, the book opens flat and is constructed to endure sustained handling, offering a restrained and practical expression of the work.
